News: Team Guardians advanced to the Vex World Championship on 2/1/2025 in the Gateway to the West signature event by winning the excellence award. This made a history in the club for high school teams.
Team Explosive Lightbulbs won the innovate award on 2/1/2025 and advanced to the state championship. This is the first IQ team to advance in the club’s history
Fifth Dimension Middle School Team advanced to the Vex World Championship on 1/30/2025 in the Gateway to the West signature event by winning the tournament champion award. This made a history in the club.
Team Explosive Lightbulbs won the 2nd place and the design award on 1/25/2025. This is the first trophies that an VEX IQ team has won in the club’s history.
Guardians won tournament champion, skills challenge champion and excellence award on 1/25/2025. The students were crowned three times for all competitions in the same event. That established the highest status that a team can have in any VEX V5 event
Fifth Dimension Middle School Team won the Signature Event champions (both skills and tournament), which made the history in the club. It is also the first such team in the State of Maryland. VEX REC (Robotic Education & Competition) interviewed the team and broadcasted the interview. Watch the video here:
First VEX AI team, VANTABLACK, was formed on November 24, 2024. It is also the first AI team in the State of Maryland.
By November 8, 2024, six VEX V5 teams in our Rockville based center have advanced to the National Championship which will be hosted in March, 2025.
Weestar is a non-profit organization focused on promoting STEM education among youth. Our mission is to ignite curiosity, foster creativity, and empower the next generation through STEM education. We are authorized to provide The President’s Volunteer Service Award to outstanding citizens (adults or youth) who contribute selflessly to STEM education in the club. We also offer SSL (Student Service Learning) hours to the youth if they volunteer in our programs.
We have year-round robotics club (AOE Robotics Club), chess club and computer programming club, summer camp and afterschool programs.
On September 27, 2024, the Parent Association organized an award ceremony to celebrate the achievement of the students who have volunteered in the year of 2024. Maryland delegate Lily Qi came to present gold, silver and bronze medal as well as the certificate bearing the president’s signature to the winners.
